We are expanding our Data Science team and looking for a Developer, reporting to the Sr Data Scientist, to play a key role in providing the data that allows us and our customers to make data driven decisions. As a developer on the Data Science team, you will work cross-functionally to execute against the Wazoku data product roadmap. We are looking for a pro-active self-starter who isn’t afraid of hard work and wants to be part of a dynamic and dedicated team working to produce award winning software.

The Role

We are passionate about developing good quality, peer-reviewed and well-tested code. We also give developers the freedom to explore new ideas and trends in a collaborative and supportive environment. Joining our team, you will get the opportunity to play with a range of technologies including Webpack, Angular, Typescript, Jest, mypy, D3, TDD, Ansible & Jenkins.

  • Contribute to the development of analytics widgets and dashboards by working with the Sr Data Scientist to build APIs to query and provide client data, and frontend components using Typescript in an Angular framework to display the data and handle user interactions.
  • Generating efficient and scalable code to implement machine learning algorithms devised by the Data Science team for content recommendations.
  • Writing scripts to enable ad-hoc data analyses to answer business questions and to support the Customer Success, Customer Excellence & Product teams to make data driven decisions.
  • Maintaining functionality through bug fixes and code re-factors.
  • Ensuring stability by writing automated tests and documenting methods employed.

The Person:

Python (ideally 3.6+) and knowledge of various Python libraries and toolkits

  • Django REST framework
  • JavaScript/TypeScript in an Angular framework
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • Project management tools (JIRA or similar) and experience working in sprint cycles using agile principles
  • Ability to work under pressure showing initiative and self-motivation, whilst working both cooperatively as part of a team and individually
  • Good communication skills

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • A good degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years working in a software company in a development role
  • D3.js visualisation library
  • UX/UI design
  • Experience of developing machine learning models, with a particular focus on NLP
  • Celery messaging
  • SQL
  • AWS
