The Day (https://theday.co.uk) was launched in January 2011 as a daily online newspaper for teenagers focusing on the big issues that are transforming the world.

The Day is looking for a junior-to-mid-level Web Developer to help build and run technology that delivers brilliant, thought-provoking content to hundreds of thousands of young people every day.

You will work closely with an experienced full-stack developer to help plan, deliver and run a new publishing platform for The Day, using standard technologies and open-source software.Β The role will span front- and back-end.

The ideal candidate is someone with keen analytical skills, an interest in publishing and journalism, and ambitions to build simple, robust software. The Day is growing and there are good opportunities for career development.

We work in an agile way, with sprints, stories and retrospectives. We practise Test-Driven Development. The majority of the work will be done via pair programming.

You must

  • be competent with JavaScript
  • have a solid grasp of HTML and CSS
  • be able to use Git
  • have some experience of back-end web development, irrespective of language
