About us

Stitched.co.uk is a fast growing company founded in 2016 selling made-to-measure curtains and blinds using 3D customisation technology (moving into other home décor products soon!). Check us out on www.stitched.co.uk and @madebystitched on social!

We believe in a new generation of products that are made from sustainable materials, rather than mass produced synthetic alternatives that are harmful to the environment. We also believe in the power of technology to help customers buy the products they love.

Building a great business is the thing that gets us out of bed in the morning. We’re a pending B-Corp and believe that a better business should focus as much on its employees, customers, suppliers and the world around us as fast growth and profit.

We are backed by the lead early investors in Not-on-the-High-St, Just Eat and Lyst and have ambitious growth plans, starting with making some superstar hires to join the Stitched family. Is that you?

Job description

We’re looking for a smart, enthusiastic developer to be our first full time-engineering hire – after our CTO. Our stack is Ruby and Javascript (React and WebGL/Three.js).

Ideally, you’re someone who is as comfortable with backend work in Rails as you are in frontend work in React and WebGL, but…..we know that’s a big ask. So, if some of that sounds like you and you like the sound of what we’re about, please reach out!

As an early developer at Stitched you’ll be given a lot of freedom to make smart engineering decisions and influence the direction of our platform.

As a rapidly growing startup we are planning to grow the team, so this is a chance to be in on the ground floor and help shape that growth.

Who are we looking for?

If you’re passionate about any/all of these, then we want to chat:

  • An excellent and empathetic listener, able to work productively with the different sides of the business
  • Strong Ruby on Rails skills
  • Proficiency with modern JS toolchains and language feature
  • Familiarity with functional programming in Javascript
  • PostgreSQL experience
  • CSS3 with Bootstrap experience
  • Experience with deploying software on Heroku
  • Passionate about delivering high quality software
  • A strong focus on delivery, you are someone who takes pride in everything they ship, testing thoroughly and owning mistakes.
  • In addition to an interest in home décor, design, the environment and technology, we’re looking for a dynamic team mate, who loves a challenge, has no “wrong side of bed”, comes to work with a bit of hustle and is willing to take initiative without prompting.

Technical excellence is key, along with a passion for finding new ways of engaging customers with new technology, but if you really want to be a Stitcher, you’ve also got to be nice, approachable and willing to get stuck in.

What can you expect from Stitched?

You can expect to be welcomed into a very friendly team from day 1. There is always music playing in the office, cups of coffee and grub going round. Even though the business is moving fast, the team will always make time to give direction or help out; where we don’t know the answer, we will roll up our sleeves and solve problems together.

We will pay you a competitive salary and you will be given options in the Company. It is very important to us that you feel like an owner, not just an employee. You will be entitled to 26 days holiday on top of public holidays, and other company benefits (including a company pension and curtain allowance). Our offices are based in the True Hub between Victoria & Wesminster tube stations.

You’ve read this far and might be interested, so what’s the process from here?

If you think that Stitched is right for you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply by sending us a 150 word-ish summary of why you would like to come and work at Stitched and a copy of your CV.
