Systems Engineer

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be joining our fast paced and exciting Technology team at OVO HQ in Bristol, reporting to the Enterprise Technology Manager.

What will I be doing?

You will be developing and maintaining automations and integrations for internal OVO services, such as the HR/Finance/ERP system (Workday), intranet portal, G Suite and Slack, as well as building new services from scratch. Working closely with key stakeholders such as Internal Comms, HR, Finance and the Tech department, you will help to deliver an unrivalled user experience for all OVO team members.

A key example is onboarding/offboarding OVO staff, which means managing identity and access management (IAM) as well as syncing employee data between OVO’s HR system and directory services (G Suite and Active Directory), the intranet and internal comms platforms etc.

Do I have what it takes?

You will be motivated, show great initiative and will have experience in most of the following technologies and methodologies:

– Google Cloud Platform/AWS
– SQL based database systems
– JavaScript, Node.js, Python, Bash
– Experience building web-services on top of complex APIs
– Understanding of Agile methodology
– Experience with system design

Whilst not essential, experience with the following will be very useful in the role:

– System/software architecture and design principles
– Message queue technologies such as Kafka or PubSub
– Familiarity with our tech stack: JIRA, Slack, G Suite, GitHub
