IB Boost is a software development and services house based in London. We produce automation tools for enterprises and government for data integration, business intelligence, Robotic Process Automation and testing automation, from standalone products to fully managed service platforms in the cloud. We have our own software tool suites that are leaders in their niches and are about to be pushed to broader markets and we need people to help us achieve this growth.

We need Software Engineers who are able to design and deliver complex applications from scratch, who enjoy working full-stack and are happy owning vertical functional slices of applications. You’ll be working on a diverse set of projects at various phases of the project lifecycle and we are looking for people who are happy following a typical modern development practice but can alternately wear a purist and pragmatist hat as the situation dictates.

We’re flexible with experience level, and don’t require any fancy degrees – for us it’s about finding someone with the right skill set and motivations, and less about finding the most experienced candidate (hence the large salary range).

Your role will vary based on project and internal needs but to give you an idea, you could find yourself involved with:

  • Adding customer-facing bespoke functionality on top of our base solution platform
  • Adding new horizontal services to our platform (upcoming plans include NoSQL persistence, in-memory databases, and Machine Learning)
  • Developing automated tests for verification of functionality
  • Integration and extension of our RPA tool into our data platform
  • Helping us launch and maintain our SaaS offerings

You need experience with these:

  • Java (Spring including Boot, Integration, MVC, Security, etc.)
  • Front-end frameworks (Angular, React or Vue)
  • Development of contract-based services and APIs (REST, SOAP, Graphql)

But you will be most suited to these roles if you have experience with or want exposure to:

  • AWS and/or Azure (both ideally but the concepts translate)
  • Designing and developing scalable service-based application stacks
  • Modern enterprise security requirements and implications on platform architecture
  • Scripting (e.g. Bash/Korn, Groovy, Python, etc)
  • Linux (especially Centos/RHEL and Ubuntu)
  • RDBMS (particularly MySQL/MariaDB/Postgres) but also an interest in in-memory persistence and column-oriented/document databases
  • Modern DevOps environments, particularly virtualization and containerisation (Docker, KVM, VMWare, Azure Stack, Open Stack, K8s, etc.)
  • Configuration and release management (DevOps tools particular Jenkins, Ansible, Vagrant, Packer and Nexus, and equivalents)
  • Source control systems (Git especially)
  • Debugging production issues in live environments

For us, hiring is not a box-ticking exercise – we put a lot of effort into finding people with the right drive, ambition and attitude. We are hiring directly so send us your CV and cover letter explaining what you can bring to IB Boost.

If you enjoy making mock websites to tease colleagues, having serious-not-serious arguments about tabs vs. spaces, arguing about why colleagues should or should not buy an RTX 2080 Ti, can tolerate egg-based memes, enjoy watching or participating in eating challenges, and generally want to automate the heck out of everything then we’re probably for you. So tell us about it!

Due to our work with government clients, candidates must be able to pass UK Security Clearance at the current time.

Please note: You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this position.
