Use your depth of software development expertise to help many cool startups and founders grow their businesses.

Are you keen to leverage your software development experience in a role that isn’t development? Do you love talking to founders and CTOs and geeking out about the awesome tech they’re developing? Will you thrive in an intense, dynamic role where you’ll be relied upon by other people, form a key part of our strategy, and be exposed to all areas of our business?

If this sounds like you, read on!

GrantTree works with many of the UK’s most innovative companies, helping them to maximise their government funding opportunities. Our goal is to become the number one provider for software companies, and so we need more people with real development experience to work across sales and delivery and make sure our clients know we care and really get their world. That’s where you come in.

As a Software Specialist Consultant, you’ll be expected to quickly gain a deep understanding of the funding schemes we offer, and get stuck in helping clients to get the best out of GrantTree within a few weeks. You’ll be at a pivot point between our sales and delivery teams, often accompanying clients on their journey with us from initial conversations right through to funding.

A few months in, on an average day, you might:

  • Research a company’s technology as preparation for a sales call
  • Attend a meeting with the tech cofounder at a new prospect and discuss with them exactly which part of their technology qualifies for R&D Tax Credits
  • Speak to a newly onboarded FinTech company to get more depth about the technical challenges they faced in their work
  • Occasionally, write a few pages of technical narrative explaining these challenges in simple terms for HMRC- Participate in enquiries to explain to HMRC our rationale for why a certain development qualifies

  • Experience developing software as part of a team across the software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of multiple technology stacks
  • Comfortable speaking both on the phone and in front of clients, prospects and HMRC
  • Happy to get stuck into in-depth debates about very specific technical matters
  • Impeccable writing skills
  • Passion for learning new technologies

About Us

GrantTree was founded 7.5 years ago and employs 35 people. In our culture everyone has the freedom, power and trust to do their best work. We call this open culture. Our way of working aims to uphold human aliveness and commercial success simultaneously; it’s been successful for us so far, although it’s not for everyone (you might check out our GlassDoor reviews to learn more).

We believe that people should be rewarded fairly for the work they do. At GrantTree there is no secrecy over salaries and the way we work them out. For this role, your salary is likely to lie between £50k-£60k depending on experience.

Aside from money, we offer a place where you can be yourself and engage in empowered, purposeful work. We want you to develop your skills and fulfil your potential. We have a flexible approach to working, and while this role will require you to attend face to face meetings, your time outside of those meetings can be as remote as you like. Our office near Old Street is bright and airy, with a fab roof terrace. You can take up to 6 weeks as holiday each year.
