Business Development Manager (London)  

We are getting ready to launch and scale GemFair, a pilot project that aims to create a secure and transparent route to market for ethically-sourced artisanal and small-scale mined diamonds. By providing artisanal and small-scale miners with access to the global market and offering fair prices, GemFair hopes to improve miners’ livelihoods and foster the sector’s development as a credible and trusted source of diamond supply.

The Opportunity

A commercial role including partnerships, sales and account management, along with supporting our leadership team to enable our venture to scale at pace. The role will likely involve frequent travel to both Sierra Leone and to other nations across Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Define, monitor and report on key business and customer success metrics, celebrating successes and balancing opportunities for improvement
  • Create a go-to-market strategy: define and execute plan to reach users and scale business
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets
  • Arrange meetings with prospective partners to explain and promote the venture’s mission, vision and values
  • Create roll-out plan: identify and validate relevant markets and expansion opportunities for the venture
  • Devise plans to drive partnerships to support growth across the business in collaboration with the venture’s leadership team
  • Form strategic partnerships with industry and non-industry bodies to leverage their existing networks

Desired

  • Management consultancy or relevant banking experience highly beneficial
  • Experience in financial modelling highly recommended
  • Experience in developing country strongly encouraged

Requirements

  • Sustained presentation creation and presentation experience
  • Ability to work across various levels of commercial partnerships
  • Proven commercial acumen and financial knowledge
  • Interest in Africa and willingness to travel
