Overview

Based in East London, we’re changing the food and drinks industry by building an online booking platform to hire the country’s most exciting street food trucks and pop-up bars for events from 50 person weddings to 50,000+ person festivals!

From Dirty Burger, to Bao, to Five Points, to Patty & Bun, we work with over 350 of the most exciting chefs, bars, brewers, and winemakers in the country, and we want you to help us take it to the next level.

The last 12 months have been really exciting. We’ve seen rapid growth, from 2 best mates in a Brixton flat to a team of over 12, feeding more than 200,000 people, working with everyone from Facebook, to Amazon, to the Royal Academy and just about everything in between.

We work out of a lovely office just two minutes from Aldgate East and Aldgate station that boasts a free gym, a beer fridge, weekly fruit orders, a roof terrace, snacks galore, and generally speaking, not terrible people. We are an incredibly social team who live and breathe food, drink and events.

The role

We’re looking for a food-loving Front-End JavaScript developer to work closely with Declan, our Senior Developer. You’ll work closely with our marketing team, ops team and founders to forge growth through improving user experience, adding new features and automating our workflows where possible.

You’ll be the second in-house developer on the team, with access to and support from our current development partner, an award-winning development and product studio based nearby. One of your initial projects would involve launching a new caterer review system that’ll help our customers make the right choice of caterer.

We’re looking for someone with around 1.5 years commercial development experience, and if you have any product design or graphic design experience, that is a real plus. For the right person, there are share options and scope for this role to evolve as the company grows.

We care far more about attitude, ideas, and intelligence than experience, but ideally, you’ll:

  • Be familiar with agile development process and sprints
  • Up to date with JavaScript, including ES6 features, modern frameworks, and industry best practices
  • Not be afraid of a challenge or challenging the status quo
  • Be familiar with CSS best practices and modern methodologies including BEM, SMACSS, ITCSS
  • Be passionate about food and drink (we spend most of our day talking about both)
  • Have the necessary permissions to work in the UK (required – we are not able to sponsor visas)

Technically, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has commercial experience with at least one front-end framework: React, Ember, Angular
  • Is familiar with build tools including Webpack, Babel, gulp, ember-cli
  • Is comfortable working with a RESTful API
  • Has used CSS Preprocessors (SASS preferred)
  • Familiarity with version control software (Git)
  • Has past experience with design
  • Is interested but not necessarily has experience with other technologies in our stack, including Docker, Node, Express, ElasticSearch, Sequelize

Benefits

  • Free coffee, beer, pizza, pretzels etc.
  • We’re a one minute walk from Aldgate East, surrounded by a host of amazing delis, bars and restaurants in Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Shoreditch.
  • Pension scheme
  • Loads of free food, free tickets to events and festivals and a generous holiday allowance.
  • Staff share option scheme
  • We are looking to hire for this role ASAP.
