The business:
We are a SaaS startup business looking at our domain (sales/pipeline management) through a unique lens, seeking talented people with the right mindset – excited by doing things differently and challenging convention.  Our ambition is to create a highly scaled SaaS business that is underpinned by an ethical business model that doesn’t just focus on business growth but is also socially and environmentally considerate. It’s important to note we don’t always follow the textbook and that even goes as far as to question the value of swallowing the Agile textbook in its entirety.

The role:
We are seeking an exceptional candidate for our Head of Development role, reporting to the Head of Technology.  Experience of working within an early-stage SaaS product company (or something that moves at a similar pace) is a must.  Big software design challenges will excite you, not overawe you.  The role is hands-on with a software stack that incorporates a substantial frontend and backend JavaScript model; you will be expected to work with the team as well as rolling your sleeves up and doing some of it yourself.  You will take ownership for the entire Development space engaging with others to build exceptional software.

The detail

Responsibilities include:

  • Own software development processes (estimation, planning, release, source control etc.)
  • Mentoring and coaching team members through 1:1 and team meetings
  • Ensuring high quality software is output from the software delivery process
  • Liaising with product team and UX team where required to sustain delivery
  • Hiring and recruitment (when scale-up is required) of software engineers
  • Providing regular status reports to stakeholders delivery
  • Hands-on Software Development

Soft skills required:

  • Outward and personable communication style, meeting facilitation, people management
  • Positive, can-do and ambitious attitude
  • Self-starting and proactive in taking problems away from leadership and solving them
  • Stakeholder management and expectation management skills
  • Natural attention to detail

Technical skills & experience must include:

  • Software development and implementation skills (10+ project life cycles)
  • Software architecture and design (10+ project life cycles)
  • Microservices
  • Client / server JavaScript architecture & design
  • Full stack experience
  • Strong familiarity with containerization technology and awareness of orchestration platforms (k8s)
  • Data architecture with NoSQL database technology is highly advantageous
  • Your Software development skills
