About the role

It’s an exciting time to join BookingBug. We’re scaling up our Technology teams, and looking for an Internal Systems Support Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a truly varied role where no two days are the same. In the role, you will:

  • Manage deploys that the Development team don’t carry out
  • Provide 1st line investigation for server and technical issues
  • Manage user accounts, including set up, removal, and resetting passwords in order to ensure confidentiality and proper use
  • Assist in the setup and test of internal servers, applications, hardware & infrastructure
  • Provide internal helpdesk support including – diagnosing and resolving technical issues; small to medium-sized IT projects (office moves, system & server migrations etc); setting up/configuring new workstations; installing authorised software; ensuring security and upgrades are applied

About You

You should have a passion for IT and a willingness to learn and grow with the company. Whilst company-specific training will be provided, it’s key that you have a working understanding of IT / systems support and a proactive, inquisitive attitude. We’re looking for:

  • Relevant education or equivalent experience (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role with experience as above
  • Technical knowledge – Linux, scripting, programming (ideally Ruby / Bash)
  • Experience of providing strong 1st line technical support & investigation
  • Experience of working with, searching and querying database servers is desirable
  • Appreciation of the importance of a high level of customer service & effective communication
  • An understanding of, and enthusiasm for, small company culture and dynamics
  • Serious about a career in Server Support / Engineering
  • Experience and understanding of development, programming and release cycles beneficial
