Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Be a key player in the development and design of our course content accessibility SaaS service;
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional and agile team of UX designers, architects and quality developers;
  • Conduct test driven development as an integral part of delivering software development;
  • Design and iteratively improve Machine Learning algorithms for the automated extraction of content semantics;
  • Assist in the management, maintenance and automation of various AWS deployments;
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, design sessions, code reviews and sprint demos;
  • Respond to the unique challenges of delivering and maintaining cloud-based software;

The skills and qualifications required to perform this role include:

  • Motivation and dedication to make a positive, global-scale impact gets you a long way;
  • Full-stack engineer well versed in Scala or Java, SQL databases and web application development;
  • A strong demonstrable portfolio of high quality projects. Contributions to open source development will earn you bonus points;
  • Experience in responsive and accessible User Interface development, including single page applications and front-end frameworks such as Angular and jQuery;
  • Proven experience with Machine Learning techniques such as Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, SVMs and Neural Nets;
  • Relevant DevOps experience, including automated deployment, monitoring and rolling out no-downtime releases;
  • Intimately familiar with deploying to Amazon Web Services and experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, SQS and CloudFormation;
